File sizes, resolutions, and counts

Upload & size limits

These are the limits that apply when you upload images and run generations. They exist to keep processing fast and the platform secure-in practice, almost any photo or render you produce will fit comfortably within them.

Uploading images

File size

Up to 100 MB per image in RenderEdit (for example high-resolution upscaled exports). The Concept Generator accepts up to 20 MB and uploaded PDFs up to 20 MB. Images added to a Board are automatically compressed in your browser if they are very large, so they're downscaled to display resolution first.

Resolution

Up to 50 megapixels total (for example 7000×7000, 12288×4000, or 8000×6000). This covers photos from any phone or camera and print-quality renders. If an image is larger, scale it down in Preview (Mac) or any image editor and re-upload.

File types

JPEG, PNG, and WebP. The actual file content is verified, so renaming a file's extension won't work-re-save it in a supported format instead.

Metadata

Uploaded images are automatically re-encoded to strip EXIF metadata (GPS location, camera details) before storage.

Generations

Output size

Generated images are produced at your selected resolution tier (1K, 2K, or 4K-up to 5504×3072 for 16:9 at 4K) and then resized to your exact requested dimensions, up to 12288 px per side.

Reference images

Up to 5 reference images combined per generation (reference and texture images share this cap). References are automatically downsampled before being sent to the model, so there is no benefit to uploading them at very high resolution.

Prompts

Prompt and style fields accept up to 4,000 characters each.

Why bigger sources don't mean bigger outputs: AI models read your image at their own internal resolution and generate at fixed native sizes (up to roughly 19 megapixels at 4K). Uploading a 50 MP photo and a 19 MP version of the same photo produces identical results-the extra resolution is used for your records, not by the model.
